THE CHALLENGE .
Project Ocean was born with the aim of transforming an obsolete and dehumanized office complex into a naturalized, efficient architectural ecosystem with a strong visual identity. A thorough functional, spatial, and symbolic analysis revealed the main shortcomings: cold entrances, facades without solar protection, unclear circulation routes, degraded materials, and a generic image that did not represent the community or the surrounding environment. The intervention focused on four key pillars: A) Green facade and passive envelope: A new architectural skin based on vegetation was developed, providing solar protection, thermal comfort, and a renewed and distinctive image. B) Welcoming outdoor spaces: The courtyard and entrance were redesigned as welcoming, meeting, and relaxation areas. The introduction of native vegetation, green roofs, and the sound of water create a sensorially rich environment that adapts to the seasonal cycle. C) Interiors with identity: The new design for the entrance hall, common areas, elevators, and offices eliminates physical and visual barriers, improving flow, orientation, accessibility, and energy efficiency through LED lighting and improved HVAC systems. D) Comprehensive sustainability: Passive systems (such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting, natural lighting, cross ventilation, and recycled or low-impact materials) were incorporated, reducing energy demand by more than 50%. Beyond architecture, the project addresses urban regeneration as a driver of collective well-being. With a holistic approach, it naturalizes, humanizes, and activates a corporate space that now projects itself into the future with its own identity.
